Project 365: August 30, 2012

It was a pretty amazing site on Main Street today as we welcomed home a hero, Taylor Morris!

I am pretty sure everyone in town was there waving flags and cheering. It was a very exciting moment.

Project 365: August 28, 2012

The girls must have decided they did not want to sleep in their beds tonight - they had both put all their blankets and pillows on the floor and slept there instead.

Project 365: August 27, 2012

When Daddy has to work late, and it's just the girls for dinner - we always make our favorite meal - Pancakes!  And I am pretty sure our dairy-free, sugar-free pancakes are the best!
Thank you Hannah for choosing today's yummy looking picture - she loves her pancakes covered in syrup, just like her mommy. :)  And it's making me very hungry...

Project 365: August 26, 2012

Tonight we went to the all church picnic at Nazareth Lutheran Church.  (This is not the church we attend on Sunday mornings, but it is the church we to go for our MOPS group.)   Of course it was a lot of fun for the kids.  They had a fun jumping around the the bounce house with their friends.
And Hannah even had the courage to throw a ball at the dunk tank!  Sadly, she missed, but I was so proud she tried.

Project 365: August 25, 2012

Today we spend the early afternoon at the Energy Fair at CFU.  The girls had a great time playing in jump houses, riding the train, and eating hot dogs and ice cream!  It's always a fun time!

Project 365: August 24, 2012

On today's walk, Mia traded in her little purple tricycle for Hannah's old red one.  She was so excited to get a 'big girl bike'.  In all my attempts to take her picture, she was too quick, and most of them ended up looking like this as she zoomed past me.  (And is that the same dress she wore in yesterdays pictures, you ask?  Well, yes... she is going through a 'favorite dress phase' just like Hannah and her princess dress last spring).

Project 365: August 23, 2012

For a little while this afternoon, we lost power.  We couldn't watch TV or listen to music, so we read books. She got a big smile when she realized I had the camera.
And, she was eager to share her book with me.

Project 365: August 22, 2012

Oh, Bella and the squirrel.  These two animals really make us laugh every time we are outside.  Bella loves to chase this squirrel up one of the tree where it 'yells' at Bella until we go inside.  As funny as it is to watch, I am certain these two will be friends one day.

Project 365: August 21, 2012

While playing outside this afternoon, Hannah and Mia were playing in the rocks.  Hannah found this one, which she insists in a T-Rex tooth.  It was a very exciting discovery!

Project 365: August 20, 2012

The girls' new favorite activity is bringing out ALL the bedding (blankets, pillows, sheets, and stuffed animals) to the living room and building tents or nests with them.  Thankfully, it doesn't bother me too much... as long as they help me clean it up. :)

Project 365: August 19, 2012

Today we finally took the boat to the lake.  We packed a picnic and had a yummy lunch. Just as we were starting to do a little fishing, some very dark rain clouds filled the sky.  Although our time on the boat didn't last long, we had a great time and cannot wait to go out again.

Project 365: August 18, 2012

Today, while playing outside, Hannah ran into the house to get a bowl and filled it with green tomatoes from the garden.  She was so proud of herself and happy that Daddy could cook us some yummy fried green tomatoes.

Project 365: August 17, 2012

We are home, sweet home.  Hannah and Mia (and even Bella) were so excited to see Daddy and the finished boat!  They all sat in it (please ignore the messy garage) and told Daddy all about their week at Mama and Papa's house.

Project 365: August 16, 2012

Hannah and Mia spent the afternoon trying to climb this tree.  They moved a chair from the deck, climbed up and hung on this little branch - unsuccessfully - and eventually breaking it.

Project 365: August 15, 2012

Another one of Hannah's lovely drawings.

Project 365: August 14, 2012

One of Mia's favorite spots at Mama and Papa's house. Watching morning cartoons in a chair that is just her size.

Project 365: August 13, 2012

Today the girls and I decided to stay at Mama and Papa's house for the week.  Hannah and Mia loved our last minute vacation - They spent much of the day outside picking flowers (above) and trying to hide in Uncle Shane's car trunk (below) so they can go to Arizona with him.

Project 365: August 12, 2012

Tonight at my dad's church, Olivet Baptist Church in Urbandale, they welcomed Remedy Drive for an amazing concert!
It was been a while since Dan and I went to a concert (I think I was pregnant with Hannah). I was very excited for the loud music, singing, and dancing.

There was even a little jumping onto pianos... no big deal.  Did I metion the concert was amazing?!
We meet the band afterwards - the girls were very shy - but they were so nice!  Cannot wait to see them again... hopefully they'll be back.

Project 365: August 11, 2012

Today we headed to Adel, Iowa for their annual Sweet Corn Festival.  It has been several years since we were here and we missed it!  After we enjoyed a parade we walked around town in search of the delicious treat.
All the sweet corn anyone can possible eat!

Of course the girls loved it!
After eating as much corn as we could, we spent the afternoon with some of the Webb Family to celebrate my grandparent's 65th wedding anniversary.

Project 365: August 10, 2012

This is my wedding ring.  Before we get into today's adventure, here is a little background - I am horrible about keeping my ring safe.  I am always taking it off because I don't wear it at home and I'm always putting it in random places around the house.  Which usually leads to me not finding it because I cannot remember where I put it.  Also, Mia loves to play with it.  Which is what she did today.  As we were leaving for Des Moines for the weekend, I was going to put it on... and I couldn't find it (not a surprise), but this time, I knew exactly where I left it.  So I asked Mia if she played with it and she said yes.  Where did she say she put it?  IN THE POTTY! EEK!!  I clearly remember her earlier in the day playing with band aids and trying to flush an entire roll of toilet paper, so it was quite possible.  Thankfully, after several panicked minutes of searching, it was found ON the potty.  Phew!  Lesson learned?  Doubt it...

Project 365: August 9, 2012

Today it rained!  It only lasted for 5 minutes, but we were so happy to see it!  Praise the Lord!

Project 365: August 8, 2012

With low, dark clouds filling the sky, we were sure hoping for some rain today.  Sadly, we didn't get any. Hopefully soon!!

Project 365: August 7, 2012

Not the greatest picture ever taken... but it's still a memory.  The girls went fishing with Daddy this evening.  They love, love, love to go fishing with their daddy.  He's a lucky guy.

Project 365: August 6, 2012

Our garden is growing like crazy and every other day I pick so many tomatoes, peppers, etc.  It's hard to keep up with all the canning we have been doing lately.

Project 365: August 5, 2012

Woohoo! Today we went to Lost Island Water Park!
We always have so much fun there.... except when it's cold, which it was this morning when we got there.  It took a little while, but in no time (and after a yummy lunch) we had big smiles!
Hannah loved, loved, loved the wave pool - she didn't want to do anything else.
And Mia kind of enjoyed the slides - as long as Mommy went with her.
Today was a special day because two of Hannah's friends came to visit.  These two cuties are Noah and Allison.
It was a day full of fun! And just before it was time to head home, Mia fell asleep...
