Today Hannah started preschool! As hard as I tried not to, I cried when we dropped her off. I am not ready for my baby to start school... But she was very excited and had a great day! During the summer session, every day is a different theme and today was Summer Olympics day - she wore red, white and blue, had a blast playing in the outside obstacle course and making ribbons!
I am sure tomorrow will be another exciting day! I cannot wait to hear all about it!

learning to write
The big thing Hannah and I have been working on together is writing. I know she just turned 3 at the end of April, but she loves to draw and loves to learn, so I though I would try and teach her before she starts preschool...
I say she's picking it up pretty well!

our baby birds
The eggs have hatched and we have three tiny (and kind of) cute baby birds!
Baby Bird number 1 was born on May 23rd...
On May 24th, Baby Bird number 2 joined the world... (this one must have been super new, the egg shell was still there)
Oops, busted! Mama bird caught me in the play house... time for me to get out of there...
But not before I got this cute picture!
And on May 25th, Baby Bird number 3 was born (if you didn't notice, baby birds hatch in the order they were laid, one day apart... another interesting fact we learned about these baby robins)

We also discovered that once the babies were born, both the Mama Bird and the Daddy Bird take turns sitting with the babies and looking for food. As soon as any of us step into the back yard, one of them is chirping at us and diving down trying to scare us off. It's been kind of difficult to play outside this week (the rain hasn't help either), take Bella out to go potty, and since one of them is almost always there, it's difficult to get a new picture!
The babies will grow up fast and be out of their nest before we know it. Hopefully (fingers crossed) I will get at least one more chance to get a picture of these babies.

mowing the lawn
I absolutely love watching these three 'mow' the law every week.
The girls love following their daddy around the yard helping him work.
It's just super cute!

Happy 20 Months Mia!
Mia had a very exciting day today! We participated in the Heart Walk this morning and it rained, and rained, and rained. Of course it stopped and the sun came out when we were finished, turning it into a pretty amazing day.
It's always a challenge to get a picture of these two together anymore... This one made me laugh - it's the only picture with them both looking at the camera. :o)
This afternoon we got a chance to play outside and blow lots and lots of bubbles.
She has her shoes on the wrong feet (she likes to put them on by herself), two bows in her hair and a tutu. She loves to be pretty. I love it.
And then she wanted to 'mow' the lawn... she even makes that look cute.
I love this little girl... she always makes me smile!
(And because I know someone will ask, these shirts were made by my friend Grace at Finley and Oliver. Check her out - her shirts are super adorable!!) :o)

Our Garden
This is our garden. Dan built me this raised garden a couple of summers ago. I love it!
This year I was wondering if we'd ever get it planted... with the cool temperatures, we thought spring would never come!
Usually we grow our plants form seeds, but they didn't seem to want to grow. So we decided to buy plants this year. We only got a few. I am not sure how much I will be able to keep up with the garden this year with two little girls running around. I sort of over did it last year, and by the end of the summer, I wanted nothing to do with it. :o)
Hannah helped me plant our plants this year. She loves digging in the dirt so I hope she'll be a great helper this summer.
Here are our tomato plants
Our peppers and jalapenos
Hannah planted some zucchini and squash along the fence. We'll see if they take off.
And we also got a blue berry plant this year. I am very excited about it!
After all the work was done, Hannah had to check on her bird friend in the play house. She loves having that bird around.

our little vistor... an update!
Having a robin live in the girls' play house has been a pretty exciting thing for us. Unfortunately it means the girls cannot play in it until the birds are gone, however we have been learning a lot! It's been especially exciting for Hannah who loves to learn and loves animals - she is always wanting to see our new bird friend.
Here she is, our little mama bird sitting on her nest. It's not the greatest picture because I took it from far away not to scare her. I am always trying to time it so we can get pictures of her nest while she isn't 'home'
One thing we did learn about robins is they lay one egg a day, until they have anywhere between 3-5 eggs. After learning that, when researching how long it would take for our little egg to hatch., we had to take another peek in that nest and we found egg number 2
And then the next day we found egg number 3

We think she is done, so 3 baby birds are what we are so patiently waiting to hatch. We cannot wait to see them in a couple of weeks!

Hannah's 3rd Birthday Party
We finally had Hannah's 3rd birthday party today.
She had a wonderful time!
I made all of her favorite foods... like these sweet treats
Marshmallows dipped in chocolate
Super delicious cupcakes from Scratch
Hannah picked out these cute Dirt-Cup cakes
Time for a couple of pictures with mommy
And now time to make some silly faces
Everything set up and ready to go... it's time to party!
And uninvited guest... icky! He must have heard about the Dirt-Cup Cakes we were serving.
Present time. A special thank you to all Hannah's friends that gave her wonderful gifts!
Couldn't even make it home without falling asleep. Partying is super hard work! :o)
Overall, Hannah had a very special day. I still cannot believe my baby girl is 3!

We are not yet sure who lives here, but they built this cute little nest very quickly (it was not there the day before) Hopefully I will be able to update you on our new visitor soon!
