Out with the old...

And when I say old, I mean old. Our 1963 kitchen to be exact. If you have ever stepped foot into this house, the kitchen is the first room you see and you know how much I enjoy this room. The lovely carpeted floor and painted countertops… oh how I wish I could have met that interior designer.

Everything has been ordered and we’re changing it all: new floor, new countertop, refinishing the cupboards, and a new family-friendly kitchen table with banquette seating (which I am most excited about!)

I cannot believe I am finally ready to let it all go. Unfortunately kitchen – you will not be missed!

Happy 23 Months Hannah!

Today Hannah is 23 Months old.
Yesterday I managed to get a couple pictures of her while she ran around the yard. For a while now she's going through a "no picture" phase so they are difficult to catch. I just cannot believe how fast she is growing. But, she is pretty amazing!

mia's first food

Mia started eating rice cereal last night. It is always such a messy and funny experience giving your baby food for the very first time. She was a bit confused at first, but kept wanting more and I'm pretty sure she wore more than she ate!
give me that spoon mom... i can do it myself

dad, i'm not so sure about this...

this is easier...

good thing it's bath night!

Happy 6 Months Mia!

Mia is 6 Months old today! She hasn't really learned new tricks this last month. She is very close to crawling - gets around the room very well backwards, often getting stuck under the couch - and almost sitting up by herself! She's growing like a weed!

delish...

I just cannot believe it's that time already... Mia is almost 6 months old and starting babyfood! I really need to stop blinking!

So today, I had the chance to start making her babyfood. I know, why not just buy the jarred variety?! Only the best for my babies! I'm not saying it's bad to buy babyfood, but when you can make it, go for it! It's so easy and saves money! And a bonus - I love making it!

We found some delicious organic carrots, apples and pears the last time we went to the grocery store.

With the help of Hannah (she just stood beside me eating apples),

we peeled and chopped...

baked...

pureed (with a little water)...

and froze in cubes.

In just a couple of weeks, Mia will be enjoying them!

Yummy!

she's so smart...

Hannah loves to learn and she can pick things up really fast. She was recently given an ABC puzzle and could quickly identify and even name some of the letters. So I thought lets try words! Last Friday, I made up some simple flash cards and went through them with her just a couple of times. So far she has memorized 3 of them! We are pretty proud of her!

She is one smart cookie!

and please ignore the messy hair... hehe
